After Ike Made Ground
After Ike Made Ground
Helpless, she waits.
Midnight's blur breaks,
swallows, and takes
those yet to go.
Wreckage tumbles.
Debris stumbles.
Grass blades humble.
Houston hangs low.
Electric breeze,
as you must, please!
Consume your needs,
and prove more ground!
Our candles drip
on flowered lips,
like heartbeat skips
carry sound.
